Index Forum

INTRODUCTION:

A significant number of FISD members are involved and connected with index data in some form or fashion. Creators and sponsors of indices, distributors of index data, as well as users of index data are all well represented in the roll of companies comprising FISD membership.

The Index Forum Group provides opportunities for individuals within these firms to discuss topics and areas of interest within the index realm.

Gatherings and discussions within the Index Forum Group are flexible and, in fact, do vary regarding composition. Although most activities within the Group are open and made available to all FISD members, some gatherings are focused on a specific constituency of the index community (e.g. index creators and sponsors or end-users of index data).

AUDIENCE AND PARTICIPATION

Individuals involved and interested in indexes and index data are encouraged to participate in the Index Forum Group. Participants in the Group's activities span a broad spectrum not only among a variety of companies and roles within each company but also in terms of tenure and experience.

ISSUES AND CONTENT

The Index Forum Group addresses a number of issues and topics related to indexes and indexing. The FISD solicits members for ideas and suggestions regarding content, speakers and topics for discussion in our events.

To date the Group has heard panel discussions on ETFs and licensing index data, keynote presentations from Adam Sussman of the TABB Group; Jim Wiandt, publisher of Journal of Indexes; and Bob Arnold, Senior Investment Officer of the State Comptroller's Office of the State of New York, as well as briefings from representatives of Standard & Poor's, Dow Jones Indexes, NASDAQ OMX, RIMES Technologies, and Thomson Reuters.

• March 28: London
• May TBA: New York 
• October TBA: London(as part of the wider FISD General Meeting event)

In addition, the FISD accommodates special gatherings for specific constituencies within the full Index Group. For example, FISD members who sponsor or create indexes have gathered to discuss topics and issues of particular interest to them.
