For Educators
Vision K-20
Education has helped propel the United States as a world leader in technology and innovation for generations. As our schools work with limited resources, however, that lead is diminishing and today's students are left to compete in a truly global economy. Despite student adoption of technology into their lives and homes, America's K-20 schools can do more to fully leverage these technologies to improve learning.
SIIA's Vision K-20 calls for a coalition of stakeholders, including educators, business executives, policymakers, and academic leaders to recognize the necessity of an instructional and institutional framework that embraces technology and e-learning. The following resources are intended to help guide these stakeholders, especially K-20 educators, in their efforts to incorporate technology into education from conceptualization through implementation to assessment.
Our Vision: By the end of the decade, every K-20 institution can - and should -have an instructional and institutional framework that embraces technology and e-learning in order to:
- Deepen learning and motivate students.
- Help schools meet the needs of all students.
- Support accountability and ongoing assessment
- Facilitate communication, connectivity and collaboration.
- Nurture creativity and self-expression.
- Enable students to learn from any place at any time.
- Support effective and economical management of the education enterprise.
